Isn't it a bit ironic

That statistics show many military personnel come from poverty, but instead of our government assisting them & their families to prosper, the government would rather fund a foreign country and assist in making that country prosperous?

When I was in 88-91 most I knew were not from proverty. Matter of fact most had nice vehicles before entering and that's the facts.

You really don't get why this has to be done.

Sorry about the spelling.

The men who join the military are majorily on the poor side when they enlist. They lead a very good life in the military. But when i served, they never offered to help my family financialy and i served the first 3 years in peace time & the economy was pretty good.

Well, no need to convince me with 2 brothers who served or are serving - but you know, when I ask them about it, and though they'd like more money, they wouldn't have done anything else. Still ...

The thing that put me against that sort of stuff was the lack of contact with folks back home.
For what I did I was seriously loaded with cash but I was too out of touch.

I'd rather be poorer, and have roots.

Then again, Bush isn't exactly a humanitarian (dispite the facade of being a righteous Christian). If we don't care about their civilians why worry about ours
